My wife and I lost our newborn child at a very young age. I was never able to deal with my grief until our second child was born many years later. Before bedtime, I would tell him stories about his older brother, his magical lion, and the adventures they had together. In this way found a new way to bring his older brother to life and thus was born my very first children's book.
Talking to children about grief is one of the toughest challenges we can face. "My Brother's Lion" was written to open up a discussion about the loss of a loved one with a child.

It follows Maddie, a young girl growing up on a farm, who is told by a friend that she shouldn't spend time with their classmate Aiden because he is gay. The story is built to give parents and children an easy way into a hard conversation about identity, fairness, and the idea that what makes us different on the outside doesn't change what we are on the inside.
